Welcome Coquet Children’s Centre. The Centre is situated in the village of Hadston, with outreach services provided into Widdrington Station Community Centre. Our Amble Children’s Centre, is on the Amble Links First School site. Please see our “Whats On” for what is running in your locality.

Butterflies Playgroup at Coquet Children’s Centre in Hadston.

Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted

Butterflies Playgroup provides pre-school experiences and the chance to socialise with other children in a stable, secure and relaxed environment with qualified staff. Children are able to develop skills, confidence and independence. The 3-hour sessions, on Mon & Wed afternoons and Tues, Thurs & Fri mornings during term-time, are for children aged 2 (until the term after the 3rd birthday) and must be booked in advance. £12 per session. Check if your 2-year old is entitled to receive FREE childcare/early education if your family gets certain benefits.

‘Parents value the service that is offered and are very complimentary about the progress their children make and the supportive and approachable staff. Children form secure and trusting attachments with their key person. Staff work closely with parents to ensure that children’s well-being is given priority and therefore their emotional needs are well met. All children make good progress across all areas of their learning and development. Gaps in learning, including those children receiving funding, are closing. Children make good progress in their mathematical skills…Children gain confidence and are able to carry out self-care routines with minimal support from adults. They are creative and enjoy exploring and trying things for themselves… Children acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to succeed in their future education, including starting school’

Our Nursery Officers are responsible for providing high quality childcare and play/learning opportunities through the planning, and delivery, of a wide range of activities appropriate to the child's needs and stage of development.

They ensure consistency in facilitating children's physical, emotional, intellectual and social development whilst working in partnership with parents/carers.
